Sunday 25th December – bike ***** – Gloomy, damp and cloudy.

Woke to the usual Christmas Day gloom but at least it was not raining so after a nice lay-in we decided to take some warm sausage rolls and a flask over to see ‘Emily’ at Falkenham Church:) Being damp we decided to stick mainly to country lanes as we left home just before ten we headed through the town, past the park at The Grove and down Marsh Lane wishing people Merry Christmas as we passed:) At Kings Fleet we went to the top of the river wall to look at the Deben, the tide was out and a few waders were feeding, then we carried on past the Fleet with loads of swans grazing in the fields:) Mags phone then went and we had a lovely WhatsApp video call from the Grandson Arlo plus mum and Dad spending Christmas down in Devon where it was dipping it down with a mix of rain and hail! Our seat was free at Falkenham Church and sadly we had just missed the Christmas Day service so no carols for us today:( Had a lovely snack before carrying on to Kirton and Trimley and home, we really enjoyed our bike ride, out a couple of hours covering 16 miles.
Then showered and dressed up we headed over to Ipswich Hospital to spend the afternoon with our son Dan, partner Jay and the beautiful new Granddaughter Maeva:) Arriving at 2 we were lucky enough to have a party lasting two and a half hours mainly due to the fact that she is in a private room:) A friend gave us some alcohol-free fizzy wine which went down very well, Mag and I had none stop cuddles from Maeva who was mostly fast asleep, she is just so content! Dan and Jay opened presents. Maeva was so lucky and she got a large amount of stuff lovingly made or supplied by friends of Ipswich Hospital, just wonderful! Then it was home for a yummy chicken roastie before the highlight of Christmas, the Pottery Throw-down!
